Oh great Agimimnon, how I've despaired to see the absence of new articles bythee over the past few months. Mightily have I searched to find a questionworthy of thy infinite wisdom and boundless knowledge of D&D minutiae, something that would merit thy lucid, flowing prose. I beseech thee listento my quandary and shed upon it thy light of truth:

I am concerned about the differences between Silent Image, Minor Image, andMajor Image. I am aware that when a character strikes and illusion they geta saving throw to disbelieve. Here lies my first set of quandaries:The Major Image spell states that an illusion that is struck disappearsunless you cause the illusion to react appropriately.Silent Image and Minor Image do not specify what happens to them when theyare struck? Do they simply, necessarily just disappear? Can they be causedto react appropriately (without respect to your opponent making their savingthrow?)

I anxiously await your enlightened response.

Your humble student,

Kevin

My most delusional Kevin,

How dare you speak to the Great Agimimnon as if he were your equal?! Thee you say to an equal, and superiors you address as ye. Learn your native tongue peasant, lest I have it ripped from your insolent head and fed to a pack of harpies. And as for your despair, I could care less for the feelings of an impassioned primate. However, I do pity your simple kind, and although your flatteries were strewn with insults, I shall assume that they were simply out of ignorance. I shall therefore consider this little episode as a fluke, the result of your being numb in the head, and that you would never insult me openly. Do not make me doubt this decision.

Now, listen to my wisdom, and let those of you who would dare to insult me know that if they tempt my anger again, those they call gods will tremble for sake of my wrath.

You see Kevin, bewildered victim of the muses spite, the answer is simple. Minor Image says specifically in the spells description that if the illusion is interacted with that a Will vs. Disbelief must be rolled. There are no exceptions, any form of interaction will suffice (yes, striking the illusion counts as interaction). The description for the next spell, Minor Image is quite direct; its spell description says that Minor Image behaves as silent image. For those of challenged verbiage, this means they are the same. Major Image on the other hand disappears when struck by an opponent unless you cause the illusion to react appropriately. The answer, therefore, is quite simple. Silent Image and Minor Image invoke disbelief roles when struck, as does Major Image unless made to behave properly. You may now tremble in awe.

Oh, and Kevin, were I not a manic spirit of sadistic disposition I would be saddened to tell you this, but I am and so I am not. I am not your teacher, nor will I ever be. You are, to say subtly, quite simply deprived of that intellect which is necessary to hold candle to one such as myself, and were I to teach you I would succeed only in reveling as your mind gave way to sudden catatonia. No mortal is or can be my student. In fact, there was once one amongst your kind that I had once considered both worthy and wise. His name was Socrates, and he killed himself in your year 399 bc while suffering a sudden bought of depression brought on by the knowledge of the true nature of the universe, instilled in him by myself. A sad losshe made quite a cup of tea.
